Dispensary Staff

All dispensary staff are fully qualified and work closely as a team with the doctors and nurses. We have a dedicated telephone line to the dispensary and all medication queries and repeat prescription requests are dealt with by using your computerised drug records. They can advise or refer you to a doctor or nurse if necessary.

Repeat Prescriptions

Please remember that we require 72 hours’ notice in order to fulfil the dispensing guidelines. Check your medicines and order in plenty of time before you run out. Allow 3 – 4 days for “special orders”.

We issue a month’s supply of repeat medication as recommended by the NHS England

Refer to your medication request form, which is enclosed in the bag with your repeat medicines. Tick only the items you require on your form and have this ready before you ring.

We are now able to accept card payments at both Longstanton Branch Surgery and Willingham Surgery.

Written Requests

Please always use the request form enclosed with your repeat medicines to re-order. Tick only the items you require and put in the repeat prescription box in the lobby at Willingham or the box on the reception desk at Longstanton. There is a letter box for use when the surgeries are closed.

Online ordering is now available. Please ask Dispensary for details of how to register.

Generic Prescriptions

In line with government guidelines we use the generic or chemical name when we write prescriptions and our suppliers may supply different brands from time to time. The active ingredient of the medicine remains the same but if you are concerned please discuss this with the doctor.

If you are a Longstanton, Swavesey or Bar Hill patient remember to specify whether you wish to collect your repeat medication from Willingham or Longstanton by ticking the appropriate box. Please remember your stated choice to avoid disappointment when you arrive to collect your medicines!

Wastage of Medicines

Please order only those medicines you actually need from your list of authorised repeats to ensure that limited NHS resources are used fairly. Please do not “stockpile” medicines.

Unwanted Medicines

You can hand in your unwanted medicines to our dispensary for safe disposal.

Comments, Complaints or Suggestions

We will do our best to put things right for you if there is a problem. Please ask to speak to the Dispensary Manager or Practice Manager if you have any concerns, or put them in writing if you prefer.

To Obtain Medicines Urgently

Speak to our dispensary staff who will need to consult with a doctor on your behalf. The out of hours service cannot supply your repeat medication so please check your medicines regularly so that you do not run out.

Non-dispensing patients can choose to collect medication from the Pharmacy at Willingham.
